WHATS DIFFERENT? U7/9/12 Races
Nothing, the race format will remain the same as will the race timings.
U14/U16 Male and Female Elite/S1 and S2
Everybody will have 2 races, these will be raced on laps, rather than the standard time-based races.
HOW THE RACES WILL RUN There will be a practice laps between each block of races (rather than the standard 2) There will be a rider warm up area, please remain in this area for your block. i.e. once you have returned back from the practice lap go to the riders warm up area and stay there until you have completed all of your races. The races are a tight turn around, we will grid riders so they can start the next race as soon as the last one has finished. We don't want riders disappearing to cars etc.
If clubs want a gazebo in this area please contact us so we can plan for space. We will have a gazebo for independent/solo riders for them to leave their equipment/shelter in.
It shouldnt happen with so few laps but if you are lapped you will be pulled out.
Gridding will be done on the League position for both races.
TRYING SOMETHING NEW This is new to most people, and although not exactly mirroring the UCI short course format, we have tried to offer something similar that will still give you plenty of track time. Why are we doing it? It's nice to vary things, to give different styles of riders a chance, maybe your fitness isn't quite where you want it to be, and you can't run at the front for an hour, but you can for 15 mins. WHATS THE COURSE LIKE? The course is the flattest of the year but has a nice mix of open wide sections to over stake and wooded trails. We have made the course pretty much wide enough to ride 2 abreast all the way round. This is to encourage overtaking and close racing all the way around; you can't relax! CUT US SOME SLACK We have done our best to estimate the race day, with flying laps, etc, to work out lap length, but this could all change with the weather. We will do our best to keep to this; this is something new to all of us. Come along, enjoy the day, let's make this another fun event.
