Transparency & Impact
MTB east CIC (company number 17349989) is a Community Interest Company. This page exists for funders, grant assessors and anyone who wants to see how we're governed and what we deliver.
See our running Grant & Progress Updates →What a CIC is, and our mission
A Community Interest Company is a limited company that exists for the benefit of a community rather than private shareholders. MTB east CIC (company number 17349989) is regulated by the CIC Regulator, and, like every CIC, is subject to a statutory asset lock: our assets and any surplus can only be used for our stated community purpose, never distributed to directors or members as profit, and if MTB east CIC were ever wound up, anything left over would have to transfer to another asset-locked body, not to any individual.
In practice, that means every round entry, sponsorship and grant goes back into running and growing the series, not into private hands. Our purpose is “Ride, Develop, Belong”: grassroots off-road racing that's genuinely open to newcomers (Ride), that develops riders and volunteers at every level from Sofa to Singletrack up to elite (Develop), and that builds a real community around it (Belong).
The six divisions
- League: Seven rounds of cross-country racing every season at Potash Woods and Gallows Green, from under-7s on their first start line to elite and eBike riders.
- Festival: The Gallows Green festival on Saturday 22/05/2027, the day before the Sunday League round: jump airbag, grass crit, kids' games, camping and music into the evening. Adult pass £35.
- Sportive: A sportive of 50 to 100km starting from Gallows Green in August, and part charity fundraiser. Date, route and price are still to be confirmed.
- Coaching: Coach-led help for riders who want to get better, including the free Women's Rookie Race Squad for women new to racing and Sofa to Singletrack, our free couch-to-trail programme for anyone new to riding.
- Partners: Businesses and organisations backing the series for a whole season or event, so their support is seen at every round.
- Volunteers: The Marshal Club: the marshals, timing crew and sign-on team behind every round, rewarded with a free drink and 50% off an entry for a half day, or a free entry for a full day.
Impact & reach
In 2026, 287 different riders raced across 7 rounds. At least 131 of them raced in the under-7 to under-16 categories, counted from the recorded results (a rider who raced in several categories is counted once, and the count only includes riders with a recorded result). From 2027 we will publish exact figures by age from race entries, with any group of fewer than 5 people shown as “<5” so that nobody can be identified.
Community programmes
We record how many people take part in the Women's Rookie Race Squad and Sofa to Singletrack, how many Marshal Club shifts are done, and how many days we spend building and maintaining the track. The figures will appear here as they come in.
Looking after the environment
- Reusable number boards, used all season.
- Reusable silicone cable ties in place of single-use ties.
- Recycling at every venue.
- Build days where we repair and maintain the trail, not only build new features.
Governance
Funders & supporters
MTB east CIC has not been awarded any grants yet. When funding is confirmed we will list the funders here. Businesses and organisations can back the series as a sponsor: see the Partners page.
Accounts & financial transparency
As a CIC, MTB east CIC is required to file a CIC34 community interest report with Companies House alongside its annual accounts every year, setting out what was done for the community and how any surplus was applied. Once a report has been filed, it will be linked here and is always publicly viewable on the Companies House register regardless.
